2026 | Horticulture

“I believe creating a sustainable future means caring for both people and the environment, and my work allows me to contribute to both every day.”

I am employed as a gardener, helping clients on elderly home-care packages maintain their lawns and gardens. I find it rewarding when clients ask for recommendations on improving their outdoor spaces. I encourage water-wise gardening, composting green waste, mulching and healthy gardens that support local wildlife and biodiversity. This work matters because sustainability is about both environmental responsibility and helping older Australians remain safely and independently in their own homes.

With this scholarship I hope to explore career pathways within horticulture and discover which area I am most passionate about. I hope to learn new techniques, develop practical skills and gain hands-on experience that supports my growth.

I would love to travel to Peru and work alongside jungle keepers and conservationists. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the Amazon Rainforest and experience its biodiversity and unique ecosystems firsthand. I hope to learn sustainable methods for protecting forests and reducing waste in forest management, and make a positive contribution to forests and green spaces.

“Logan seems genuinely interested in the environment and sustainability […] and has a strong indication of community within horticulture.”
