Agriculture

We love our farmers! They take care of the land and are the heart and soul of our rural communities.

Agriculture is central to Australia’s economic wellbeing, nutrition and the environment. Produce grown by Australian farmers feeds people all over the world.

With a scholarship, you have the opportunity to travel far and wide, exploring different economies and cultures and exploring areas of interest such as cropping, livestock management, production horticulture and agribusiness. There is so much to learn and share about sustainable farming!

We work closely with our industry and training partners to ensure your scholarship places you ahead of the game and on top of the current key frontiers of animal welfare, food integrity and social licencing.

The scholarship is your opportunity to follow your passion, explore possibilities and create a career that you love while making an impact for sustainability.

Trades

The ability to create something amazing with your own hands, through manual labour, talent and skill is one of the most rewarding aspects of a trade career. And where would we be without our tradies? They build our homes, fix our taps, keep our cars on the road and make sure our lights turn on at night. And yet, each day - our tradies are also discovering, innovating and designing new ways to deliver sustainable solutions through their work.

As a scholar, you will be inspired by travelling the world and seeing how others are are kicking goals, solving problems and transforming your industry one job at a time.

Scholarships are available for tradies in many areas including but not limited to;

  • e.g. sheet metal fabrication, welding, additive manufacturing

  • e.g. plumbing, electrical, cabinet making, tiling, carpentry, environmental management

  • e.g. rail vehicles, auto electrical, motorcycle mechanics, heavy vehicle mechanics

  • e.g. Cookery, Baking, Butchery, Restaurant Service.

Horticulture

Our green spaces, plants and gardens play an important role in sustaining life in our cities and around the world.

We rely on our horticulturalists to propagate and nurture, and create and maintain the lungs of our cities - the gardens, parks and green infrastructure in which we rest and play.

As a scholar, you will have the opportunity to explore vegetation, gardens and green spaces around the world, while extending your knowledge of the impact of climate on biodiversity.

You will be inspired by the innovation that is taking place in the trade and you will relish in the opportunity to discover new and creative ways to integrate plants into the built environment.

An opportunity for hands-on problem solvers

This program, previously known as BBM Scholarships, is all about sustainability and supporting young people to create the future they want for themselves and their planet.

These scholarships are exclusively for you if you are Vocational Education and Training (VET) trained in agriculture, horticulture or a trade; have a passion for sustainability in your industry, and a bright vision for Australia’s future.

Since 1983, more than 1000 young Australians have travelled the world with this scholarship program and returned to Australia ready to share ideas, knowledge, skills and networks to inspire others.

Our vision is a future of “young people growing a better world”, and we work towards it by living our purpose, to “support young people to become practical and impactful leaders”.

Today we invite you to join in our purpose, to chase your dreams and help create a better future.
