“This scholarship is my opportunity learn about renewable energy in another country and provide an insight into how I can contribute to creating a sustainable future through my own career.”
I have always wanted to be involved in the electrical renewables sector since before I completed my apprenticeship.
Young Australians in the electrical, agricultural & horticultural industry trades can benefit significantly from exposure to how other countries implement their sustainability practices. They can then use that knowledge to stand up for climate action in Australia through active participation in creating Australia’s clean energy future.
This scholarship is my opportunity to learn about renewable energy in another country and provide an insight into how I can contribute to creating a sustainable future through my career.
I hope to travel to Finland, Iceland or Bhutan, and develop a thorough understanding of their history of transitioning to clean energy and how the various technologies have been adapted to suit the country’s environment and characteristics. I could then bring that knowledge back to Australia, as our Electricity Industry also faces challenges stemming from harsh environmental conditions.
“Elina Ulrich is passionate about combining her electrical trade with sustainability. She aims to gain international renewable energy experience, learn innovative practices, and mentor others. Inspired by global initiatives like regenerative agriculture and renewable energy, she hopes to travel to Finland to study hydropower, geothermal, and nuclear energy, bringing knowledge back to advance Australia’s clean energy future.”
