Amelia Burdon
2025 | Agriculture
In Honour of Clive Sisley
”This scholarship is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn and to experience viticulture practices used in other countries and to see how they could benefit our own country and improve our own practices.”
I have been passionate about agriculture ever since growing up on the family sheep and cattle farm in rural South Australia. In 2020 I accepted a position in the viticulture industry which sparked my passion for soil, plant biology and beneficial insects interaction.
This Scholarship is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience viticulture practices used in other countries and to learn how they could improve our own viticulture practices.
I have researched viticulture projects in countries well invested in their sustainability journeys, and I believe New Zealand, Chile, Italy, France and England would teach me many things. Each of these places could be an opportunity to learn about Irrigation Conservation which is going to be vital in the future of Australia, organic compost practices, biodiversity preservation and cropping, which will allow me to bring home ample information to improve our own practices.
“Amelia's knowledge of her industry and the sustainability challenges are impressive. She is interested in expanding her knowledge and networks for the greater good and is keen to see how other countries handle the same challenges.”
