“I want to learn how other countries live and farm, then return to Australia and use that knowledge to create stronger, more environmentally sustainable practices for the future.”
In my studies and my work I have already witnessed regenerative agriculture in action. It is inspiring how it has flipped the traditional farming ways on their head, enhancing productivity and improving quality of yields. It sustains and improves the health of the soil, water, and biodiversity on a farm.
There are many countries around the world that I would like to travel to with this scholarship.
Countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Central Asia all have vastly diverse ways of farming and of working with their environment. Farmers in each of these places would approach things very differently from farmers in Australia to ensure they use all their resources and what they have on hand to create and grow. I can observe and learn from these differences, the diverse ethnicities and cultures that shape their way of life, and bring back new knowledge and perspective that can be applied to farming properties here.
“This applicant has a lived experience of applying sustainability in their industry and it would have been good to hear more about that.”
