2026 | Construction – Electrical (Trade)

“I want to return home with new skills, ideas and ways of thinking that would allow me to continue improving as an electrician and contributing to a sustainable mindset that positively influences my workplace and industry in Australia.”

I am nearing the completion of my electrical apprenticeship. I believe sustainability comes from doing quality work the first time, reducing waste, using energy-efficient products and continuing to develop renewable energy solutions. Working on solar-powered and off-grid homes has strengthened my interest in building a more sustainable future through the electrical industry.

I applied for a Global Footprints Scholarship because I want to keep challenging myself by seeing how the electrical industry operates in a different country, environment and culture.

I’m particularly interested in automation, smart technology, renewable energy systems and precision electrical work, and I want to learn how these technologies are applied in real workplaces so I can bring new ideas and perspectives back to Australia.

Japan is where I would most like to travel. I want to experience firsthand the high standards, organisation and attention to detail that shape the industry there, while learning how advanced electrical systems and energy-efficient technologies are integrated into everyday life.

“Thomas is committed to personal growth and leadership, with a strong curiosity to learn more.”
