“I believe that better environmental outcomes, improved animal welfare, and stronger business performance can be achieved together.”
My journey in sustainable agriculture began in the paddocks of my family’s farm on the Mid North Coast of NSW. About eight years ago, my parents converted our conventional dairy farm into a certified organic enterprise. I have since worked across the beef supply chain and am helping establish our milk bottling plant and paddock-to-plate beef business.
With this scholarship I hope to immerse myself in agriculture overseas. I would love to gain perspectives on why and how farms operate, learn about beef and dairy production, and explore processing, direct to consumer sales, animal welfare and value-adding. I am also enthusiastic about networking and broadening my mentors.
I plan to travel to Canada and Europe. Canada would offer insight into large-scale beef, feedlot and processing systems, while Europe would offer lessons in dairy value chains, milk processing, cooperatives and paddock-to-plate businesses. I will bring that knowledge home to strengthen our family farm and share what I learn.
By developing food systems that are environmentally responsible, economically viable, and socially connected, I hope to contribute to a more sustainable future for farming families and the wider community.
"Her passion and knowledge shine through in the application, with care taken when considering the wellbeing of animals and how this impacts the rest of the produce.”
